Version 3 Reporting

Database Design

Adastra Version 3 uses Microsoft SQL Server as its database. The system design incorporates many different fields in many different but related tables, any combination of which may be accessed or filtered. This delivers enormous power and flexibility when it comes to reporting on organisational activity.

Because the data is stored in many inter-related tables and linked by key terms large amounts of information can be accessed simultaneously by many users. Known as a relational database system, it is the most efficient way of holding lots of data without sacrificing speed and usability.

Query Builder
Version 3 includes a powerful new reporting module, designed to enable customers to quickly and easily analyse activity, using a vast range of filters to drill down to exactly the information set that is required.

At its heart the reporting module features a Query Builder, used to select the information to be reported. Using the industry standard SQL - Structured Query Language - customers are able to build simple or complex queries which can then be run against the v3 database.

Report Production

Once a query has been written, it is saved for future use and can then be converted into a report. Anyone familiar with modern reporting tools, such as Microsoft Access, will feel equally at ease with the v3 Report Designer. Simple but powerful tools allow customers to add images, text and the data fields from the query onto the report, and change the attributes to help present the information clearly. Text properties can easily be changed and images (including a Service Provider logo for example) can easily be added.
A preview tab lets customers see how the report will look when it is run and users have the option to simply print the report or export it in PDF, RTF, Excel, HTML, TIF or plain text format.
